About us
My now-husband and I somehow pulled off buying a house in spring 2025. Once we'd moved in and powered through a mountain of DIY, we wanted to furnish it with as much vintage as we could — and hit a wall. Every trip to our favorite Chicago shops was a guessing game: no way to know who had what before showing up. A year later, we built Sifted so nobody else has to guess.

I teach high school, but in my free time I'm three stops deep into Chicago's thrift and vintage shops. My favorite kind of travel is the budget kind; the sort where I end up in an eclectic vintage store halfway across the world. I recently found out my weekend hobby is part of my family line: my great-grandfather ran a vintage shop in small-town Wisconsin back in the '50s. So Sifted is me carrying that on, just with better tools.

I work in sales and engineering, and I fall for anything with a little age on it. Years of travel, poking through antique and thrift stores in other countries, and finally becoming a homeowner turned a soft spot for old things into a full-blown love of the refurbished and the reclaimed.
For store owners
Sifted charges a simple 15% selling fee — no listing fees, no monthly subscription, no hidden payment-processing charges. The buyer arranges and pays for delivery, so you just sell.
Covers the marketplace and payment processing. That's the whole bill.
How we compare
| Platform | Seller fee | Local store discovery | Curated vintage | Unlimited listings |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sifted | 15% all-in | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| eBay | ~13.6% + fees | ✕ | ✕ | Limited free, then fees |
| Etsy | ~10–12% + listing fees | ✕ | Partial | Listing fee per item |
| Chairish | 20–40% | ✕ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Facebook Marketplace | 0% local, DIY | Partial | ✕ | ✓ |
Others charge less on paper, then add listing fees, subscriptions, or payment processing on top. Our 15% is the whole number — and the only one built for local vintage, start to finish.
